Oh OK, well seems like you need to stop holding back Cheapy! Time to bare all for the fans! (or maybe there's just an uncut version of the CAGcast out there that I'm missing out on).
To be more serious, one of the missions of HardCheapyD (not that you'll find a mission statement posted anywhere) was to get some of the great humor of the CAGcast into tweet form. So, you'd be right to say that a few of the tweets haven't necessarily evolved much past the original quote or comment on the CAGcast that inspired them. Regardless, I have noticed that Cheapy's twitter feed has evolved to become less dry over the past 6 months than it was originally, so if he was inspired in any way by HardCheapyD to make the change, well (part of) my work here is done ;-).

Looks like my tweet scheduler lost the tweets for the last 3 days. Not only did they not get posted, but they appear to have been lost into the ether. Not happy.

Some Minor Tweaks and a Confused Fan
Again at the request of those kind Twitter folks, I've made some changes. Tweaked the CheapyD head a bit (hope you like it!) and added "Parody" to the name. So the full name now reads as:
HardCheapyD (Parody)
Hope that should help any confused CAGs out there :-).

Firstly, thanks supermidget for the kind words! But I just want to clear up one thing. I'm not intending my audience to be CheapyD haters! I guess it could be said that @HardCheapyD is making fun of CheapyD, but really, my goal is to take some of what makes CheapyD so funny on the CAGcast and put it in twitter form. So my hope is, people that find CheapyD talking about shit, weed, and sex on the the CAGcast might also like @HardCheapyD's tweets.

Yeah unfortunately it looks like it's all "dumb/low intelligence humor" (i.e. "He farted hahahaha! He smokes weed and like poo poo hahaha!").
I don't think the creator is angry at Cheapy, I think he's just trying to get some attention/glorification for his warped sense of humor.
Kind of pathetic but maybe this guy is just really really bored?
Kind of a misuse of quotes there :-). And then, by definition, the humor wouldn't be warped, would it?

Thanks! I can only take minimal credit though. That tweet was probably the closest to a direct rip from the CAGcast as any. If folks remember, Cheapy's story had him getting a peek at some high school girl's underwear (maybe they were pink?) and then running into misfortune for the rest of the day.

A tweet from Wombat! It's like all my birthdays have come at once! Now, Wombat, I think you're great, but I'm going to have to call you out here and at the same time reveal a little secret. As someone over at CAG speculated, I did come up with @HardCheapyD on a slow, boring, Sunday afternoon, back in May. Now the secret is, that same afternoon I wrote about 80% of all the previous tweets along with tweets for the next 2 months. Then I simply used a Twitter scheduling service to make sure that @HardCheapyD would tweet once a day. I didn't even write them in chronological order, in fact I juggled the order round quite a bit. Also, in a few cases, there are 2-3 tweets that tell an ongoing story. So what I will say is, that any perceived decrease in quality is probably your imagination. In fact, I put it down to you getting tired of the humor (a completely legit reason btw) or just getting sick of hearing Cheapy complain about it, or both ;-).
Regardless, the audience of a parody is not usually intended to be the parodied. So please feel free to exercise "unfollow", or "block", I won't be offended. Promise!

Looking Back
I just wanted to have a look back at one of my attempts at humor with @HardCheapyD (attempt being the key here!).
@CheapyD's lack of ability with the Japanese language along with his distaste for studying are well known. "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" he has said on the @CAGcast. Also, listeners of the @CAGcast may remember he picked up a copy of UbiSoft's My Japanese Coach for the DS but maybe spent only a brief time with it before becoming bored.
My idea for the joke was for @HardCheapyD to actually put some time into My Japanese Coach and show an overnight improvement. Also, he'd learn to say some pretty ridiculous stuff along the way, one of the points being that he would say stuff that wouldn't be usually found in a textbook. Unfortunately, the response was not stellar, in fact it was zero. I was hoping someone might at least ask WTF @HardCheapyD was saying, or maybe even try and run it through Google translator. For anyone who might be interested, here's what he said:

Changes to @Real_CheapyD
You may have noticed a change in username from @RealCheapyD to @HardCheapyD. Actually, someone (identity unknown) reported the account to be in violation of Twitter rules, namely those regarding impersonation. From Twitter's policies web page:
What is Impersonation?
Pretending to be another person or business as entertainment or in order to deceive is impersonation. Non-parody impersonation is a violation of the TOS, specifically article 4 which states:
4. You must not abuse, harass, threaten, impersonate or intimidate other Twitter users.
The standard for defining parody is, "would a reasonable person be aware that it's a joke." An account may be guilty of impersonation if it confuses or misleads others—accounts with the clear INTENT to confuse or mislead will be permanently suspended.
What happens to impersonation accounts?
Parody impersonation accounts are allowed to exist. The profile information on a parody account must make it obvious that the profile is fake, or it is subject to removal from Twitter.com. If it is not evident from viewing the profile that it is a joke, it is considered non-parody impersonation. Non-parody impersonation accounts may be permanently suspended for Terms of Service violations.
Although I noted a large number of people mistaking the twitter account for @CheapyD originally, after I added this blog and called people's attention to it that number dwindled to only a very few. So I contacted Twitter support and pointed this out. Hats off to Twitter support, they responded within an hour! They agreed that the violation was extremely borderline, but still, they preferred for me to make some changes. As part of their action they renamed the account to NOTCheapyD. I didn't really like the way that read so for now I've gone with @HardCheapyD (at least until I can think of something better). From my new profile:
Not affiliated with the CheapyD who invented the clapper. Soft in the belly, but hard in other places!
I've also updated the profile picture with a delightful pink background to reflect @HardCheapyD's equal love for both men and women (and videogames!).
So, despite this little hiccup, I plan to be delivering at least a tweet a day straight from the keyboard of @HardCheapyD. Hopefully some will even be funny!

The experiment so far
Well, it's been only a few days but I thought I should report on the experiment so far. There has been a lot of interest and a ton of responses but I'll be upfront and say that the majority of it has been negative. There have been a few different types of negative responses.
- Those who think I'm trying to steal the CAG name or the CAG site from Cheapy. Um OK... Cheapy is a pretty clued in guy, you don't need to worry about him so much. Anyway, these kind of responses have reduced since I put up the first blog post and also I haven't received any further death threats, which puts me at ease. I have no fear of these actual threats being carried out but it does make me feel uncomfortable having random internet people wishing me dead. Also, I have some sense of guilt knowing that I've caused so much stress to someone that they have felt compelled to threaten my life.
- Those who initially thought I was actually Cheapy. I think they feel a little humiliated on realizing their mistake and need to lash out. Fortunately, these have also gone down since the first blog post.
- Those who think the tweets are not funny. Usually something like "You are not funny fuckhead. Shut the fuck up". Naturally, I totally respect the opinion, even if I'd prefer it to be phrased in a different way. Anyway, I will be continuing and hopefully more people will start to find it funny. We'll see.
- There have been a few comparing Real_CheapyD to EvilGarnett. Usually saying something like "you should be more like EvilGarnett, he's actually funny". Hey, I can't deny it, I'm an EvilGarnett follower, I enjoy their stuff. Hmmm, it's an interesting comment. I guess I'll say, firstly I am not the same person who does EvilGarnett and I'm not going to try and imitate their work. Secondly, that kind of parody just doesn't sit with my image of Cheapy. Stuff like "Today I killed a baby squirrel", "I just sexually harassed my co-worker", hey it's been funny, but as a CheapyD parody? Well, I dunno. I see Cheapy as a guy who is always finding himself in funny bizarre situations, and often making the mundane seem funny. Also, he does time to time have a sharp, witty remark to make. So, I'm trying to work the parody more along those lines than the very callous EvilGarnett character.
- There have been complaints about me spamming twitter users. Umm, I'm sorry but it seems some don't understand how twitter works. It's actually impossible for me to spam you, unless you have email notifications enabled for new followers. In that case, you'll get the single email saying you have a new follower, and nothing more. So you can either disable this feature, or make your updates protected. I know that making a twitter account protected can be inconvenient for your (future) followers, but you have to understand that your twitter feed is there for public consumption. Anyone can look at it or follow it. You can choose to block an individual twitter user from following but they can still view it if they want too. Also, I'm not "Replying" to individual users on twitter unless they solicit a reply from me. I have definitely been following a ton of users, a large cross section of the gaming community from journalists to users. This is pretty much standard practice for any non personal twitter account to get some initial interest. It is quite harmless and I'd be surprised if there are many who don't at least get a couple of spam twitter bots following them every week or so. I certainly do on my other twitter accounts.
Whew... well it hasn't all been bad. I've had some messages saying stuff like, "It's pretty funny, keep it up". And others who have realized that being impersonated on twitter can been seen as a kind of compliment to the impersonated. I do plan to continue for at least a couple of months and just see how it goes. Anyway, if a daily tweet or so from Real_CheapyD brings a smile to a Cheapy fan out there, well I'm happy.
For E3, I do plan to continue tweeting. Having said that, I'm sure the real REAL @CheapyD's tweets will be a lot more interesting so be sure to keep an eye on them.

p.s. yeah the names have been changed (slightly). I feel this just creates a little bit of an extra barrier between anything that may be considered offensive and real people. Also, it has helped clue in people that the account is not actually Cheapy.
